The West African Mills Company Limited, Takoradi, is another example of the success of divestiture. In the four years since taking over the enterprise, the new German owners have invested over DM30 million, salvaging it from imminent collapse. With the rehabilitation and modernisation exercise, production of cocoa butter has risen from 10,000 to 20,387 metric tonnes a year and processing of cocoa beans from 10,000 to 53,351 metric tonnes a year. The number of employees has also increasedfrom 170 to 450.
