The Bonsa Tyre Company Limited is an industrial establishment set out to produce Vehicle tyres and is the only tyre manufacturing company in Ghana . [One of three in the West African Sub Region].
Bonsa is located on a 448 acre site on the banks of the Bonsa River in the Western Region of Ghana, within easy reach of the port of Takoradi .The factory is adjacent to Ghana Rubber Estates Limited which produces natural rubber.
The plant has a design capacity for 388,000 tyres per annum comprising 67% passenger vehicle and 33% truck and tractor tyres.
The extensive production, administrative and storage facilities at the site are supplemented by staff amenities of 26 bungalows, a canteen, a clinic, and recreational facilities including a swimming pool and clubhouse.
Financial and other Technical problems resulted in low levels of production before it was shut down in the year 2000 for rehabilitation.
The African Development Bank funded the rehabilitation of the facilities under technical assistance and licensing from Dunlop International Projects Limited.
